Last term we had a student teacher named Whaea Seroya and we were learning a kupu o te ra which is a word of the day and these are some of them:
- Arai mata-face mask
- Papa takaro-playground
- Karit-carrot
- Pahi-bus
- Poro-ball
- Whira-field
We learned to play whare whare kemu is a game there was 10 lines of fruit-hua rakau and Whaea Seroya called out fruit (hua rākau) in Maori. We made wheku masks and a pukapuka (book). We chose a fruit (hua rakau) or a vegetable (hua whenua) to write about. In it I wrote Ko wai ahau? Ko karoti ahau, No wai au? Ko hua rākau au. We learnt all about Te Wiki Te Reo Maori which is Maori language week.
